BluInsights allows to define groups of files in order to organize the imported source code files according to multiple criteria. These groups are named "Workpackages" and can be nested in order to define multiple levels. For example, a project can be divided into iterations, each iteration includes different tasks and each task contains groups of files which have technical or functional commonalities (Iterations > Tasks > Groups > Files).

A BluInsights project has a "Default Workpackage" which contains all the imported files that can be moved to new created workpackages.

A file can be in multiple workpackages. Its properties are shared among all its workpackages, i.e., if modified in one workpackage, the modifications will be visible in all other workpackages.

Manage workpackages

Creating a new workpackage is as simple as giving it a name and a description (optional) in the Settings page. It is also possible to import workpackages from an Excel file.

Use workpackages

The Selection Properties dialog box applied to one or multiple files allows you to manage your workpackages/files association. It allows to select existing workpackages and assign all the selected files or create new ones if needed.

A workpackage can have a leader, a status and related comments. These information can be edited using the Selection Properties dialog box visible when one or multiple workpackages are selected.

Start Date and End Date for workpackages are automatically set by extracting the dates from their related files.
